Indi go-es  to the Air India

Magic is in the air ofIndia. India witnessed this magic on the 2nd of July, 2022. Magic of change, Magic of confidence,
Magic of trust….. The Sunday papers carried an interesting headline.

“Passengers faced delays on Saturday and more than half of the flights operated by India’s largest airline departed late after a large number of its cabin crew members called in sick”.

The mass leave of the employees was attributed to the recruitment drive of Air India which is recently

bought by the Tata group. Isn’t it magic?? The airline against which employee unrest pervaded for more

than a decade, is now causing tremors to the competitors. The fact that Air India is able to attract

prospective employees from its competitors despite the widely known discontent amongst its employees

is nothing short of ‘magic’.

It is certainly early to conclude but time shall reveal if the change in ownership is the source of this magic.

Tata limited is a business conglomerate in India that proudly bears the credit of many ‘firsts’. It has been

the initiator of several Pro-employee policies. The ‘employer brand’ of Tata group companies has always

been positive. Current and prospective employees perceive it to be a ‘trusted brand’. The change in ownership could have instilled confidence in the talent pool of the Aviation industry in India about the

turnaround of Air India and the possibility of it clinching the top position in the employment market.

Born to the Tatas in 1932, Air India was mostly fostered by the Indian government post-nationalisation.

Air India seems to have lost the values instilled by its biological parents (Tatas) and has now become a

spoilt brat (Air India) under the tutelage of its foster parents (Indian government). When the foster parents

succumbed to the acts of this spoilt brat, they found no help (No buyers for Air India) until the biological

parents re-adopted their child hoping that they still can instill their values and revive their child.

The employee market inching towards Air India is a positive sign for the company and is evident enough

to show that the Airline can expect good days ahead.
